Their Easter Celebration programme, which was broadcast on Easter Sunday (24th April 2011) has been nominated for a prestigious Jerusalem Award. At an award ceremony in central London on Thursday they will find out if the programme wins out against Easter programmes made by leading specialist Christian broadcasters, BBC Manchester and BBC Radio 2.

The successful Radio Teesdale programme was a celebration of the Easter message presented by Ruth Dent in a way that could appeal to a wide audience. It included input from several Teesdale residents and included a feature for young people by Chris Bambrough, a drama by Brian and Jane Land, a testimony from local veterinary surgeon Fiona Lovatt, a reading by Marianne Dixon and a short meditation on the events of the first Easter morning given by Alan Willis. These were interspersed with music which consisted of traditional hymns, modern worship songs and classical music.

Radio Teesdale Station Manager Peter Dixon said, "It is a great thrill to be once again recognised alongside and have our programmes compared with such major broadcasting organisations.  Ruth Dent and Peter Martin do a fantastic job in organising and producing such high quality programmes working with people in Teesdale who are not regular broadcasters.  It is also very exciting that on Sunday we will be starting a news series of programmes based around hymns and faith based music."

Starting this next Sunday (23rd October) "Sing to the Lord" is one of the new programmes being produced for the new Radio Teesdale Autumn Season.  Presenters will include Denise Dent, Ruth Dent, Elizabeth Conran, Bill Bartle, Barbara Rowarth, and Janet Stark.  The programme will feature a thought for the day, short extracts from religious services and music from a variety of sources. The programme will feature relevant themes of the time of year such as Remembrance Sunday, St. Andrew's Sunday, Advent Sunday and Christmas Day.

"Sing to the Lord" will be broadcast from 10.00am to 11.00am each Sunday morning and repeated from 8.00pm each Sunday evening. You can hear Radio Teesdale on 102.1FM and 105.5FM in the Teesdale area or around the world on www.radioteesdale.co.uk.
