New Members Spring into Action at Radio Teesdale
The station is also delighted to welcome another very experienced broadcaster to the airways. Paul Anderson has been working on TV and radio for 15 years working for various local, regional and national broadcasters (including the BBC, ITN and Sky) before settling into his new slot here on Radio Teesdale. Paul presents the all new The News Programme, every Tuesday and Friday, from 11am to 12pm. Paul Anderson said, Ive really enjoyed my career in broadcasting. Some of the highlights have involved commentating on Darlingtons Wembley play-off final in 2000, being the first broadcaster to interview Peter Mandleson (live across BBC TV and Radio) after he stepped down as an MP. I didnt find his fame and fortune, but gained something even better. I learned to appreciate how much nicer it is up here. Im very much looking forward to presenting a show featuring local and regional news on Radio Teesdale. Gina Hill takes over the Tuesday evening Drivetime slot from 5pm to 7pm. Gina has been working as co-host with Malcolm Proud for the last year, but will be driving solo for the first time this season. Malcolm Proud continues to work hard behind the scenes and as a presenter with the Monday Drivetime slot, working with co-host Sienna Coyle, as well as Wednesday and Saturday Breakfast shows. Malcolm Proud said, We always welcome new members to the station whatever level of experience they bring with them. We have found that one of the best ways of training people is to give them the opportunity to co-host a show. Its great to see Gina going on to broadcast two hour hours a week after initial period of support from other members. On the third Thursday of every month Radio Teesdale are continuing to produce Radio TOPS, a programme supported by the Teesdale AAP, aimed at the over 50 year old members of the community. Michael and Val Fryer will be continuing to feature Brass and Military Band Music with Bandstand. The show will alternate each with at 1pm on Sunday with their other programme, which makes a return to the airwaves, Music for the Vintage Generation. Station Manager, Peter Dixon, said, It is great to have new members constantly joining the team. If anyone is thinking about working in media, behind the microphone or behind the scenes, then wed be happy to have a chat with them about all the possibilities of working in radio with an active community station. We change our schedule every three months to give anyone in the community an opportunity to present a show. We have lots of jobs behinds the scenes as well. We are also keen to talk to any community group wanting to get their message out on air. During the season Radio Teesdale will be undertaking their second 24 HOUR LIVE RADIOTHON. Its 24 live hours around the clock, 24 different presenters, 24 community guests and 24 sponsors. The 2010 Radiothon will run from noon on Friday the 1st October to noon on Saturday the 2nd October. |
