The Nations and Regions Awards 2009: Winners

The Radio Academy is proud to announce the winners of the Nations & Regions Awards 2009. The Nations & Regions Awards are the opportunity for stations with a TSA under 300,000 to be recognised in their Branch and to qualify for the 2010 Sony Radio Academy Awards Station of the Year. The aim of the awards is to celebrate programming that caters for the needs of a local or regional UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man audience.

Judging and awards presentations have been organised by The Radio Academy’s Branches and each Branch has awarded one Nations & Regions Award to the station that the judges feel demonstrated the most consistently outstanding output. Independent local radio scooped 5 of the 11 awards, with Tindle Radio claiming 2 awards for winning stations North Norfolk Radio and Andover Sound. Community radio stations took 4 of the 11 awards, and local BBC stations claimed 2. A full list of the nominated stations is available on The Radio Academy website, along with judges’ citations for the winning entries.

The following stations will go through for judging in the 2010 Sony Radio Academy Awards:
