Profile
Show Name: A Little Light Music I was born in December 1956 – so at the moment of typing this, I am 52 years of age. I do enjoy most pop songs from the 1950s and 1960s and can even tell you what year the songs from the sixties were in the charts! I also got great enjoyment from the BBC Trade Test transmissions in the 1960s and 1970s. Due to various circumstances, I was able to listen to a lot of this music. But I have always had a great love for classical music, mainly orchestral, with ballet, marches, New Years Day style shows of waltzes, polkas, some symphonic and concerto music. So, since 1992 I have been a member of Darlington’s Recorded Music Society, which plays classical music. I have presented a show every year since 1993. Some of these shows I have presented in a shorter version Radio Teesdale. I then joined the Gateshead Recorded Music Society in 2007, and did my first show for them in 2008 – that show was an extended version of one of the Radio Teesdale shows. Likewise, I joined the Durham Recorded Music Society in 2008, and will be presenting my first show for them in September 2009. I then discovered the Test Card Circle and I write a regular article (in a journal that’s published every 3 months) about some of the classical tapes that were on the Trade Test transmissions all those years ago. So it was so good to find out about Radio Teesdale, and I felt I could provide a regular weekly show which I have given as the title A Little Light Music, and use Eine Kliene Nachtmusik (A Little Night Music) as my signature tune. This is a show of classical music, and I usually do a theme for each show. I hope to keep provided more new show for the near future. Current time of programme: Monday Night at 10.00pm, with a repeat the following Sunday night at 9.00pm. |
