Radio Teesdale Listen Again Top 100 downloads for 2009
Radio Teesdale has published the list of the most popular Radio Teesdale Listen Again podcast recordings for 2009.
Station Manager, Peter Dixon commented on the list saying, With over 400 recordings available for playing again or downloading there is some stiff competition. We feature posts lots of local interviews and features, but because of the reach of the internet the most popular downloads are the ones that have an international interest with the interviewee having fans from all parts of the world. The top three downloads all featured international performers with the Canadian Band Sweetfire at number three, Al Jardine of the Beach Boys at two with the top spot going to star of the musical Wicked, Kerry Ellis. Its great to think that people from all over the world are finding out the Teesdale from the work we do recording, editing and broadcasting these features.
Radio Teesdale Web Designer Chris Ord added, We often drop a note to organisers of web sites for artists we have done interviews with and once the news gets posted on their web sites and bulletin boards the web site hit rates rocket. For example, we understand that the whole of the Japanese Beach Boys Fan Club listened into the original broadcast of our Al Jardine programme as it was streamed out.
Various Regional wide tourism features also featured highly including items on the Highlights Rural Touring Scheme, Swaledale Festival, Durhams bid for City of Culture status in 2013, The Durham Citys Streets Festivals, Durham Brass Durham City Lumiere and the Durham Book Festival.
The work Radio Teesdale has done with the local newspaper, Teesdale Mercury, also featured highly with a secret chat with Barney Liar at number five, the recording of Mercury Editor Adrian Braddys interview with Barnard Castle Vision chairperson Deborah Jenkins at number 12 and two interviews with Adrian Braddy as well as a report from Kaye Jemmesons about the Teesdale Open Studios also charting.
The Barnard Castle Vision featured five times with interest in the opening of the Vision Box and its award success. As well as a variety of individual interviews with members of the community many Teesdale Community Groups feature on the list including The Castle Players, 2D, Barnard Castle Rugby Club, Teesdale Artists Network, Barnard Castle Rotary and Mickleton R&B Club.
There were several popular programmes made by young people including features on Climate Change as well poetry writing and junior member interviews with authors Michael Morpurgo and Wes Magee.
