It's been a very busy period for many of our members over the last few weeks, preparing for the Christmas schedule.  As well as an extensive live programme we will be broadcasting a number of special shows.

In the new year we have a number of exciting plans, including an extensive programme of outside broadcasting, a series of programmes based on archive recordings, an after school club and a young person's project looking at the work of the AONB.  If you would like to get involved then please let me know.  In the meantime there will be lots of things to listen out for over the holiday period including..............

As well as our regular programmes we have several highlights over the holiday week including:

  • Christmas Eve Afternoon show with Paul Griffin (24 December, 2pm to 5pm)
  • Beat Box Christmas Show (23 Dec 10pm and 24 Dec 8pm)
  • Juke Box Record Hop Special (24 Dec 6pm and Christmas Day 11pm)
  • Christmas Day "Sing to the Lord" with Richard Hunter (Christmas Day 10am and 8pm).
  • Sunday Supplement Christmas Day Special (Christmas Day 10am to noon)
  • The Castle Players' production of Charles Dickens play "Christmas Carol" (Christmas Day 2pm) and their production of Grimm! based on Grimm's Fairy Tales (Boxing Day 1pm).
  • The broadcast for the first time of the "Riverside Plays Opera" concert at the Bowes Museum in the summer as part of Durham Brass, recorded exclusively by Radio Teesdale (Christmas Day at 6pm, Boxing Day at 2pm)
  • Hollow Hills, a play written by Jim McTaggart and performed by The MAD MADS, and first broadcast by the BBC in 1982.  The repeat of this archive drama is followed by modern day interviews recorded at the MAD MADS reunion that took place earlier this year in Mickleton. (Boxing Day 5pm, repeated 2nd January at 2pm)
  • Music in Advertising (27/12/11 2pm and 2/1/12, 11am)
  • Best of What's On (30/12/11 4pm to 6pm and 1/1/12 at 9pm)
  • A review of the best of our interviews in the year with 30 of the UK's  best Stand-Up comedians (New Year's Eve 2pm, 2/1/12, 4pm)
